So here we are.
There are a lot of things I don’t like about this. As a first year animation student, and considering the low expectations for the brief- to create a 45 second animation in after effects using 2d layers arranged in 3d space based on a myth or fairy tale- it is a decent enough submission. However, it certainly isn’t up to professional grade scratch and this is something I am going to have to think about extensively and work on heavily for the rest of the semester.
It was a great learning experience, however it turned out. I can’t wait to make something much better! I post it here because I think it is important to thrust your failures into the public eye for two reasons- to create an honest portfolio history to track your progression at an artform you are studying seriously, and to sacrifice my artistic ego to make me more comfortable having my work, both good and bad, in the public eye.
Things to work on are- timing, background illustration, camera movement panache. I got it finished the day before it was due and I couldn’t adjust the audio when I was compositing it, so I didn’t have many options for getting the timing better. Forgive me. Next time.
Enjoy! I am not Eric Carmen and I did not record “hungry eyes”. There is about 20 seconds of black with audio at the beginning.
